Less than a week after the 1962 summer solstice, Edmund Kenneth and Seraphine Margaret (O’Grady) How welcomed Elle and her twin home in Peterborough, Ontario. Hand in hand with her twin, Elle traipsed after her father, a bush pilot working on the shores of the picturesque Kawarthas and Georgian Bay. His flying would take her to the gateway of the James Bay frontier, where she would begin each day by falling in love with Mother Nature’s pallet. In her exuberance, she would study and develop her own unique style recreating each frame captured by her, freezing it instantly on a canvas of white.
Spirited away from her beloved north, Elle broadened her horizons, revelling in her discovery of the incredible scenery she has collected from one Canadian coast to another. Using acrylics or oils, she commits each scene to linen or cotton, while she paints her way into your heart.
